Thoughts On Active Adult Communities

Filed under: Active Adult Communities — Jim.Logan @ 12:47 pm

The current state of the Real Estate market has proven to be a major problem for builders and developers.  The segment of the market that has taken the hardest hit seems to be the Active Adult communities.  The overabundance of these communities has left many desperately seeking buyers and some succumbing to the lack of sales of homes they have built.

As the market has slowed in general, the market for age restricted communities in particular has taken a dramatic hit.  The difficulty in selling a home in this market seems to have caused most Baby Boomers to hunker down and wait for the dust to settle.  High Energy prices and the uncertainty of selling a home in this market have turned the dream of owning a new home to the reality of figuring out how to make ends meet.

My advice to you is:  If you don’t have to sell your home immediately, stay where you are.  Boomers must, at all costs, avoid being swept up in this housing debacle.  You cannot afford to lose your nest egg so close to retirement.
